How does your garden grow?

Vertical gardens are the new craze, especially for urban dwellers such as ourselves. It’s a great way to utilize the minimal outdoor space that most San Francisco apartments offer. Not to mention, it’s a beautiful addition to any patio and gives you a great excuse to break out the grill and host a BBQ to showcase your green thumb(s)!

Here are a few helpful tips to help create your very own Eden:
1. If you’re schedule allows it, take a class. Public gardens, botanical gardens and universities can be great resources.
2. Be sure to select plants that can be grown upright. Maybe you’d like to make your garden both visually pleasing, as well fruitful – no pun intended. You can easily incorporate herbs or fruit & veg plants
3. You can either build a garden rack or just use various hanging or stackable pots.
4. Know what to expect. It’s most important to do your research – What types of plants are best? How do they grow? Are they subject to pests and diseases? Light exposure and watering needs? Etc.
