Making the seemingly impossible dream a reality, DPEM worked with Slow Food USA to translate a conceptual movement into a live community. With 85,000 attendees representing 44 states and 10 countries, Slow Food Nation was the first program of its kind to ever be produced on U.S. soil. From farmers to chefs, architects to builders, participants to guests, educators to students, politicians to public audiences, producers to consumers, the connections made at Slow Food Nation were limitless, with community focus directed to the concept of ”Good, Clean and Fair.” DPEM was proud to be the master planner and helped to create a comprehensive program featuring all aspects of sustainable food production from a Change Makers Day conference, a Come to the Table public dinner, a Farm Bill signing, a Food for Thought speaker series, a Green Kitchen featuring Alice Waters, a Marketplace of Slow Food Products, a Slow Food Rocks concert, a Slow on the Go food service, Taste Pavilions designed by local architects, a Victory Garden with produce that benefited local Bay Area shelter organizations, and much more.
