When did you start at DPEM?
July 6, 2016

What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Energetic, resourceful, and genuine.

What would be your last meal?
A lox bagel sandwich.

Favorite place you have ever traveled?
Scotland! The visit lived up to all of my high expectations!

Retirement dreams?
If all of my friends and family could retire with me, I would love a cozy house in the Swiss Alps. I would spend all of my time hiking and skiing!

Favorite Band or Musician?
Frightened Rabbit or Bob Segar.

Why did you get started in the event industry originally?
I have always loved planning small gatherings to bring friends and family together. I started working for DPEM as an on-site contractor in order to explore that interest further, and I soon realized that I loved the energy and complexity of the larger events just as much. No matter the size of the event, in the end it’s all about bringing people together – whether that be as a team working to produce an event or as guests looking to have a fun evening!

What is your favorite part about working in the event industry?
I love the energy and the people! There are very few industries in which you find yourself surrounded by such a varied group of interesting, creative, and talented people.

What was the best event you ever attended?
I love music festivals and now that I know how much work goes into making a festival of that size happen, I am even more awed by those productions. Being from the Bay Area, Outside Lands is one of my favorite events to attend!

What has been your proudest moment professionally?
My proudest moment professionally was when I made the decision to move to the events industry. It was a significant career change for me, and leaving my comfort zone in order to take on new challenges was a bit scary! I could not be happier with the decision I made, though, so I am glad I took the risk!

What is your favorite thing about living in the Bay Area?
The location. We are downright spoiled by all of the beautiful and adventurous options available to us, and I make no apologies for it! I love that in one day I could wake up by the ocean, snowboard in the mountains, stop for fresh fruit straight from the orchard, and be back to the metropolitan city of San Francisco by bedtime. It’s unbelievable and I feel so lucky to live here!

Where can you be found on your time off from work?
I play a lot of soccer in my free time. San Francisco has a wonderful athletic community with plenty of opportunities to make working out more fun. I also love to read and can often be found perusing the shelves of City Lights in North Beach!

What client would you love to work with and why?
The San Francisco Giants! My parents are die-hard Giants fans and they instilled a love of the team and the sport in my siblings and me.

What is your best-kept secret to success?
Be kind and open to new ideas! Event production is a collaborative industry, so projects will always be more successful when people enjoy working with one another!

DPEM’s Fave FallFest Moments

FallFest, presented by Meals on Wheels of San Francisco & San Francisco magazine is just around the corner, and in anticipation for this year’s event we’re looking back at our favorite moments from the past 12 years. Get your tickets for this year’s event now at sffallfest2016.eventbrite.com and use the promo code DPEM for a 20% discount.

Our Senior Event Manager, Amanda Patterson, named her son Jasper after this delicious SF gastropub.

In 2011, a zip line stretched from one end of the event to the other over the crowd. Folks whizzing by overhead made for a fun addition to the event.

Amazingly, FallFest always seems to land on one of the best days of the year (knocking on wood that our luck continues). These bloody mary’s made the hot Indian summer day at 2013’s event that much better.

We love a good sponsor activation! Lucky’s set-up was flawless, perfectly capturing the essence of the event.

The colors! FallFest is during our favorite time of year and vibrant colors of seasonal food and drink make it that much more festive.
