Eat Drink SF VIP Ticket Contest

2012SFChefs_GammaNinePhotography_2-9

It’s our favorite time of the year because Eat Drink SF is almost here! We are just one week away from the opening of this year’s event. We can almost hear the chefs sharpening their knives, the vintners swirling their wines, the restaurants finalizing their menus. We’re giving away one pair of VIP tickets to the Saturday evening Lexus Grand Tasting event.

SF Chefs has been rebranded this year as Eat Drink SF, and moved locations to Fort Mason. This event allows guests to experience tastes and flavors from the Bay Area’s finest chefs (from restaurants like Incanto, Lolinda, Etoile, Flour + Water), mixologists, brewers and wine experts in an epic foodie festival weekend. On Saturday evening, each restaurant in the Lexus Grand Tasting will serve a classic or signature dish from their restaurant. Mixologists will be shaking cocktails, winemakers will be popping corks and brewers will be tapping the kegs. Join us for the party of the year and dance your pants off!

You must be 21+ to attend the party. Follow DPEM on Twitter (@dominicphillips) and Instragram (@dpemeventmarketing), and like us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/dominicphillipseventmarketing) for updates on the contest and our other events!

When did you start at DPEM?  February 2014

How did you get started in the event industry originally?  After I graduated college and was looking for a job, my uncles (who had an event planning company for 30 years) asked me if I would cover for an employee of theirs who was on maternity leave.  It was just supposed to be for 6 weeks, but event planning came so naturally to me and I loved it so much, that they ended up hiring me full-time.

What has been the biggest challenge that you have overcome as a producer, and what was your solution?  The night before an event I was told that the guest count had been changed from 300 to 600 guests.  My solution was to call all food vendors immediately and request the maximum amount of food they could prepare with such short notice, as well as lots of deep breaths.

What was the most luxurious or glamorous event you have produced?  I produced a corporate dinner where I transformed a hotel ballroom to look like a garden under a starry sky.  There was a working water fountain with floating gardenias, live trees and hedges, tree branch centerpieces with hanging candles, and diamond light drape (black drape with twinkle lights inside) around the entire room.

What is the most unusual request you have ever had?  I was asked to get baby wipes for a guest because the client thought they might get pied.

As a client working with a new event planner, what would be the one piece of advice you would give to prepare them for the adventure?  For perspective, remember when things get hectic that you’re not curing cancer, it is just an event.

What has been your proudest moment as an event producer?  My proudest moment has honestly been getting hired to work for DPEM.  This was my dream company to work for and now I’m here :) .

How would you describe your event producing style?  I would say my event producing style is organized but relaxed.

Where can you be found on your time off from work?  You can find me hiking or by the ocean.

What would be your dream event to produce?  My dream event to produce would be an event that takes place in Hawaii.  I was born and raised in Hawaii and I would love to be able to produce an event that celebrates and exposes people to what Hawaii has to offer.

What is your best-kept secret to success?  My best-kept secret to success is to always stay positive.  There is always a silver lining no matter what the situation.  I have found that if you stay positive things tend to work out the way they should.
